About Hartles Optical Disc

Hartles Optical Disc

A useful tool for the study and demonstration of fundamentals of geometrical optics.  Comprises of a circular metal disc with circular scale from 0 to 90 graduated in degrees, printed around the edge of the disc and divides the disc in four quadrants of a circle. The disc can be mounted both vertically as well as horizontally on the stand. A 12V 24W light source with a connecting lead has a special filament with adjustable collimating lens and circular disc with slits to provide output of varying widths, type and number of beams. Different shapes of accessories of optics set are printed on the disc surface, which acts as guides for placing the accessories accurately for ease in experiment and better results. Each optical accessory has grounded bottom for clear view of passing rays and small magnets embedded at its bottom to hold it firmly to the disc in the desired position.

Accessories: 15mm thick acrylic accessories consisting of

Biconvex Lens, 90mm length, radius of curvature 85mm approx

Biconvex Lens, 90mm length, radius of curvature 210mm approx

Biconcave Lens, 90mm length, radius of curvature 120mm approx

          Circular Block, diameter 90mm

          Semi-Circular Block, diameter 90mm

          Right Angle Prism Hypotenuse 90mm

Trapezium Block - 8724mm (Base Height)

          Plane Mirror 95 10 4mm

Curved Mirror 95 10 4mm
