About Ripple Tank Apparatus
Ripple Tank Apparatus
The versatile apparatus is used for studying the concepts of wave motion and can be used as a demonstration model with an overhead projector. It facilitates the study of wave propagation on the surface of water and to study the phenomena of reflection, refraction, diffraction, interference and other wave properties. With four legs attached to the underside of the tank, it can also be used as a freestanding bench model. A gantry is supplied for supporting a motor beam the height of which is adjustable for best experimental observations and results.
The kit comprises of the following :
- Metal tray having detachable legs with leveling screws.
- Tank made of tempered glass with rubber wall has transparent bottom to ensure well-defined projection of waveforms on the screen. The rubber wall damps the waves to minimize reflections. Clear projection area is 40x40cm.
- 50W 12V AC Halogen point light source provides a sharp wave pattern projection, and includes rods & clamps.
- Wave Generator Unit having a small motor, 4.5V DC, with eccentric mass to produce waves on water surface & includes metal uprights for mounting.
- Power source, provides 12V AC for illuminant and low voltage continuously variable output for regulating frequency from 0-20 Hz approx.
Accessories included are:
- Convex, Concave & Triangular refractors.
- Straight Reflectors - long short & mini, and curved reflector.
- Glass Plates.
- White Plastic Screen for projection (approx 45x45cm)
- Reflecting mirror & translucent image screen.
- Plane wave actuator (roll cylinder) approx 40cm long.
- Clear Plastic Ruler, graduated in mm.
- Rubber Stopper for drain hole.
- Set of Props, Dippers, Rubber actuator & actuator forearms.
- Pack of Rubber bands to hang ripple generator assembly & roll cylinder.
- Dropping Pipette.
- Hand Stroboscopes with handle
- Sponge for cleaning.
- Instruction Manual.
