About Linear Air track Kit
Linear Air track Kit
An extruded aluminium alloy track of square cross-section, length 1.2m, with two rows of air holes at equal spacing, supported by two light alloy feet. Each support has an adjustable knurled screw to facilitate track setting. Lateral and horizontal adjustments are made separately with the help of spirit level. Large catapult arms with slots for elastic bands are fitted to each and of the track. A pulley fitted to one end of the track enables experiments involving acceleration under a constant force. Identical moulded rubber and caps enable air to be introduced from either end of track. A bung is supplied to close the end of the track.
The kit comprises various accessories to facilitate the experiments detailed in the comprehensive instruction booklet supplied with it. Extruded alloy vehicles have been carefully designed to attain the optimum height of buffer attachments. Buffer attachments are located in holes and clamped by screws at each end of the vehicle. A vertical 4mm diameter hole in the center of each vehicle enables the rod to be used to indicate the positions of vehicles. The knurled screws, rubber and caps, catapult arms, pulley mounting vehicles, buffer attachments and clamping screws are finished in matt black.
Kit includes Set of Sliding Vehicles, additional weight for Vehicles with masses 50 & 100g approx., Set of Accessories for experiments, such as fixing screws, light blocking frames, pulleys, elastic collision device, Air Blower for track with flexible hose and fittings, Set of Photogates with Millisecond timer with necessary fittings. FAQs of Linear Air track Kit:
Q: How does the Linear Air Track Kit work in a laboratory setting?
A: The Linear Air Track Kit operates by using the 50 W air blower to create a cushion of air along the anodized aluminium track. This substantially reduces friction, allowing riders to glide smoothly and facilitating precise motion experiments.
Q: What are the main benefits of using this kit for physics experiments?
A: This kit enables accurate measurement of velocity, acceleration, and collisions, thanks to its near-frictionless design and compatible photogate sensor interface. Its robust materials and precise construction ensure reliable data collection and long-lasting performance.
Q: When should the overload protection feature on the air blower be checked or used?
A: The overload protection automatically safeguards the air blower during extended or intensive use. Users do not need to monitor this feature actively, but should ensure the system operates within recommended electrical specifications for optimal safety.
Q: Where can the Linear Air Track Kit be installed for experiments?
A: The kit is freestanding and equipped with an anti-slip base and leveling feet, allowing stable placement on laboratory benches or classroom workspaces without permanent mounting.
Q: What is the process for connecting photogate sensors to the track kit?
A: Photogate sensors can be easily mounted and connected using the provided interface, which is compatible with standard timer units commonly used in labs. Simply position the sensors along the track as needed for specific experiments.
Q: How accurate are measurements taken with this kit and within what range?
A: Measurements using the Linear Air Track Kit are highly accurate, with 100%% declared accuracy for track lengths up to 200 cm, making it ideal for both standard and collision-type rider experiments.
