FAQs of Fortin Barometer:

Q: How do you operate the Fortin Barometer for measuring atmospheric pressure?

A: To use the Fortin Barometer, place it on a stable table top. Adjust the cistern using the vernier scale until the reference point aligns with the mercury surface. Read the atmospheric pressure value from the scale, accurate to 0.1 mm. No electricity is needed as the device is fully manual.

Q: What makes the Fortin Barometer suitable for laboratory environments?

A: This barometer offers precise pressure measurements, is constructed with robust materials like brass and stained hardwood, and has ISO 9001 certification. Its compact design (50 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm) and 3.5 kg weight make it ideal for regular use in meteorological and physics laboratory settings.

Q: When should the Fortin Barometer be calibrated or checked for accuracy?

A: Calibration should be performed according to laboratory protocols or prior to critical experiments to ensure accuracy. With its high-precision components and regulated materials, the Fortin Barometer maintains 100%% accuracy, but periodic checks are recommended for consistent performance.

Q: Where is the Fortin Barometer best used?

A: This device is best suited for meteorological stations, research laboratories, and educational institutions focusing on atmospheric or physical sciences. Its shock-resistant and manually operated design allows usage in varied locations, including field sites without electrical supplies.

Q: What is the process for maintaining the Fortin Barometer?

A: Regularly dust the exterior and check the frame and glass tube for signs of wear. Inspect the mercury column for clarity and the cistern for secure fitting. Avoid tilting or dropping the instrument and ensure it remains at a stable temperature within the 0C to 50C range.

Q: How does the Fortin Barometer benefit laboratory works and atmospheric research?

A: It offers highly efficient, reliable data with a fine graduation scale, critical for accurate barometric pressure measurements. Its robust design and manual operation ensure long-term cost-effective functionality, contributing to precise experimental outcomes and atmospheric studies.
